Access to Your Health Information
Authorised healthcare professionals may access your NEHR records
NEHR records may be accessed by authorised healthcare professionals to provide direct patient care for you.
Other circumstances where the access and use of your NEHR records may be allowed include:
When information from the NEHR is required to be provided under other written laws, usually as part of a statutory medical examination.
It is not compulsory for your healthcare professional to access your NEHR records during every visit. NEHR serves as a complementary tool to aid the healthcare professional in history taking and physical examination, when making a clinical assessment.
Healthcare professionals are not allowed to access your NEHR records for employment or insurance purposes. Healthcare professionals who are not involved in your care should also not be accessing your health records.
How do I know who has accessed my NEHR records?
The NEHR Access History section in HealthHub allows you to see which healthcare institutions have assessed your health records. If you are using the HealthHub mobile app, you can also choose to be notified when your records are accessed.
If you suspect that your NEHR record has been wrongly accessed, you may notify MOH and Synapxe for further investigation. MOH will also implement robust access privileges and set up audit mechanisms to ensure that appropriate actions are taken against unauthorised access of your health records.
